Charlie's Cousin Makes His Debut!

Hello,

My name is Haggis McSmoke. I've been a member of your cigar club for the last two years and really enjoy it. My cousin is also a member and he originally gave me a membership to the club. You may remember him, he was a member of the month sometime last year - Charlie Stick.

I enjoy smoking my cigars right after I finish playing my bagpipes. My cat, whose name is Donny, likes to listen to me play my bagpipes. He likes to meow to the music. Sometimes he meows so loud that it is hard to tell whether I am hearing my pipes or my cat.

Featured Cigars

C.A.O. L'Anniversaire Maduro Churchill

The C.A.O. L'Anniversaire was first introduced in 1998 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of C.A.O. It has quickly become one of the most sought after premium cigars on the market today. The line is only available with triple fermented, Connecticut broadleaf, Maduro wrappers; Ecuadorian binder; and Dominican and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos. The Churchill featured this month is box pressed and medium to full-bodied. Look for a complex blend of coffee, cedar, and pepper flavors. Note an even burn and a firm, long-holding ash in this rich, flavorful cigar. Overall an earthy, complex, and flavorful smoke. You might want to try smoking it with a full-bodied, dry roasted stout or a smoky single malt scotch.

Camacho Special Limited Reserve Rothchild

The Camacho Special Limited Reserve (SLR) is the latest release from the Eiroa family. It is made from a special tobacco that the Eiroa's grow called pinareño, which hails from the Pinar del Río region of Cuba. Today, the Eiroa's company, Tabacos Ranchos Jamastran, grows all of the tobacco for their cigars in the Jamastran Valley of Honduras and manufactures the cigars in a factory in Danli. This is a well-balanced, medium-to-full-bodied cigar with hints of coffee and cedar flavors evident. Immediately note a perfect draw, a long firm ash, and incredible smoke volume. Overall, a tasty little Honduran treat. Well-made and obviously well aged. Consider pairing it with a Dry Chardonnay.

La Pantera Diamond Torpedo

La Pantera's Predator Diamond Collection cigars are premium hand rolled cigars from Honduras. This torpedo is a blend of long leaf Central American and Cuban seed tobaccos. The construction was consistently sound with a good draw, even burn, and plenty of smoke volume. Lots of flavor in a relatively mild-to-medium bodied cigar. Look for a pleasant cedar aroma, followed by a somewhat sweet, woody, earthy character, finishing on a spicy, woody note. Overall, quite satisfying and fun to smoke. Consider pairing with a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or your favorite medium-bodied amber ale.

Indian Tabac Super Fuerte Petite Belicoso

The Indian Tabac Cigar Company, owned by Rocky Patel and Phil Zanghi, continually impresses us with their newest cigar lines and that's why you've seen them appear more than once in the club. They have deservedly received repeated praise from the folks at Cigar Aficionado, SMOKE magazine, and elsewhere. Indian Tabac is one of the hottest and genuinely fine cigar brands to emerge on the cigar scene in the past five years. The Super Fuerte line is handmade using filler tobaccos from Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Honduras, while the binder and wrapper are both Nicaraguan. In Spanish, Super Fuerte means "super strong", which is an accurate description of the strength of this cigar. We found it full-bodied as well as full-flavored, offering robust and mature flavors of pepper, leather, and cedar. Consider smoking it with a hoppy pale ale or strong cup of coffee.

Vega Talanga Tercio Toro

One of the more unique cigars that we have sent, the Vega Talanga Tercio is a Honduran Puro sporting a festive pigtail top and an uncut shaggy foot. The term "tercio" refers to the bark in which the cigars are encased. A natural bark harvested from Royal Palm trees, Tercio has been used for centuries in Cuba to package cigars because of its odorless and porous fibers which allow it to cure naturally. Unfortunately, each cigar is not individually wrapped in it and so to actually see the tercio yourself, you'll need to buy a full box! We found the Vega Talanga Tercio Toro to be a medium-bodied smoke, somewhat complex in flavor. Look for cedar, nut, and earthy tones. Overall, a solid smoke. Great taste and construction. Pair it up with a tawny port or peaty singly malt scotch.
