When you light up the Trinidad Espiritu Series No. 2, you're not just enjoying a cigar—you’re tapping into over a century of rich tobacco tradition. Originally founded in 1905 by Diego Trinidad in Santa Clara, Cuba, the Trinidad name has long stood for bold character and Cuban soul. Fast forward to today, and that legacy lives on in a new way—thanks to cigar legends AJ Fernández and Rafael Nodal, who teamed up to craft this vibrant, Brazilian-inspired blend.

Handcrafted with a dark, oily Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and a mix of Brazilian and Nicaraguan fillers, the Espiritu No. 2 delivers an exotic profile that’s medium to full in body but full-throttle in personality. Expect layered notes of earth, cocoa, cinnamon, clove, and a smoky spice that builds with each draw—balanced by a touch of natural sweetness from the Brazilian leaf. It’s rich, rhythmic, and unmistakably festive. And for the perfect pairing? Pour a glass of the HDV Hyde Vineyard Syrah 2019. With its dark berry fruit, peppercorn spice, and earthy, savory core, it plays in perfect harmony with the cigar’s bold structure and spice-laced depth. Together, they’re a sensory trip to Carnival in Rio—no passport required.

The Nicaraguan cigar industry originated when Cuban cigar makers escaped the revolution and re-established their livelihood in Nicaragua with Cuban-seed tobacco. Blessed with dark, rich soil, their new home was ideal for tobacco cultivation and Nicaragua quickly became known for cigars that rivaled Cuban quality. Unfortunately, revolution and war came to Nicaragua in the 1980s and devastated the industry, but it’s rebounded dramatically and is once again producing tobacco considered by many to be the finest in the world.

The Esteli Valley is in many ways the heart of Nicaraguan production and is known for its very powerful and spicy tobacco. The Jalapa Valley produces arguably the finest tobacco in the country: somewhat sweeter and less intense than Esteli, but extremely complex. The tobacco of the Condega Valley is often described as a blend of the other two regions.
