Punch Knuckle Buster Maduro Stubby

The Punch Knuckle Buster Maduro was created as a darker, richer follow-up to the original Knuckle Buster, bringing a bold Maduro personality to one of Punch’s more affordable lines. The aptly named Stubby packs that character into a chunky 4.5 x 60 format—short enough for a manageable smoke, but wide enough to deliver plenty of rich flavor. Handmade in Honduras, it combines a dark Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper with an Indonesian binder and Nicaraguan long-fillers. The result lands in medium-to-full territory, opening with baker’s chocolate, dark earth, and pepper before revealing molasses sweetness, wood, and plenty of Nicaraguan spice. The Broadleaf adds enough sweetness to round off the stronger edges without turning the cigar sugary. Pair it with Left Hand Milk Stout for a seriously satisfying combination. The beer’s roasted malt, coffee, milk chocolate, and creamy sweetness play directly into the cigar’s cocoa and molasses flavors, while its silky body softens the peppery finish. Honduras has been a tobacco growing and cigar manufacturing area for hundreds of years, but it was the Communist revolution in Cuba that really put Honduras on the map. In the 1960s, many Cuban cigar makers fled their homeland and arrived in Honduras to re-establish their way of life. The immigrants took advantage of the climate, soil, and geography, which were well-suited to tobacco growing, and began producing high quality cigars. The center of the Honduran cigar industry is the city of Danli and the nearby Jamastran Valley. The majority of the world’s pure Corojo tobacco is grown here, now that Cuba has stopped production of this iconic, spicy, and rich variety in favor of Corojo hybrids. Other important areas of Honduran cigar production include the Talanga Valley, Copan, and Trojes.
