The Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Champagne is one of the company’s best-known blends and holds a special place in Perdomo history. It was the line where the family began using its signature bourbon barrel-aging technique for wrapper tobacco. The tobaccos are carefully selected and aged for at least six years, producing the smooth, polished profile that has made Champagne a longtime favorite. Its golden Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper surrounds Cuban-seed Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. Mild to medium in strength but generous in flavor, the Robusto offers cream, cedar, toasted almonds, coffee, graham cracker, oak, and gentle white pepper. The finish remains clean and subtly sweet, making it approachable for newer smokers without becoming dull for experienced enthusiasts. Pair it with Glenmorangie 10 Year Single Malt Scotch. The whisky’s citrus, vanilla, honey, malt, and light oak enhance the cigar’s creamy sweetness and toasted character. Neither overwhelms the other, creating a relaxed, elegant pairing that works just as well before dinner as it does at the end of the evening.

The Nicaraguan cigar industry originated when Cuban cigar makers escaped the revolution and re-established their livelihood in Nicaragua with Cuban-seed tobacco. Blessed with dark, rich soil, their new home was ideal for tobacco cultivation and Nicaragua quickly became known for cigars that rivaled Cuban quality. Unfortunately, revolution and war came to Nicaragua in the 1980s and devastated the industry, but it’s rebounded dramatically and is once again producing tobacco considered by many to be the finest in the world.

The Esteli Valley is in many ways the heart of Nicaraguan production and is known for its very powerful and spicy tobacco. The Jalapa Valley produces arguably the finest tobacco in the country: somewhat sweeter and less intense than Esteli, but extremely complex. The tobacco of the Condega Valley is often described as a blend of the other two regions.
