The Oliva Master Blends III represents the culmination of generations of tobacco-growing expertise from one of Nicaragua's most respected cigar families. Introduced as the third release in Oliva's acclaimed Master Blends series, this cigar showcases select tobaccos harvested from the family's highest-priming ligero crops. Its consistent quality and rich flavor have earned it numerous accolades, including a 92-point rating from Cigar Aficionado, making it a favorite among seasoned cigar enthusiasts. The Round Torpedo features a dark U.S. Broadleaf wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and premium Nicaraguan long-fillers. Full-flavored yet remarkably balanced, it opens with notes of dark chocolate, espresso, cedar, black pepper, and earth before developing hints of leather and natural sweetness. The Torpedo shape concentrates the smoke, allowing the flavors to build gradually while maintaining a creamy, refined finish. An Americano makes an excellent pairing, as its bold espresso and slight bitterness enhance the cigar's cocoa and coffee notes without overpowering its complexity. Rich, elegant, and beautifully constructed, the Master Blends III Round Torpedo is an outstanding example of why Oliva remains one of Nicaragua's premier premium cigar manufacturers.
The Nicaraguan cigar industry originated when Cuban cigar makers escaped the revolution and re-established their livelihood in Nicaragua with Cuban-seed tobacco. Blessed with dark, rich soil, their new home was ideal for tobacco cultivation and Nicaragua quickly became known for cigars that rivaled Cuban quality. Unfortunately, revolution and war came to Nicaragua in the 1980s and devastated the industry, but it’s rebounded dramatically and is once again producing tobacco considered by many to be the finest in the world.
The Esteli Valley is in many ways the heart of Nicaraguan production and is known for its very powerful and spicy tobacco. The Jalapa Valley produces arguably the finest tobacco in the country: somewhat sweeter and less intense than Esteli, but extremely complex. The tobacco of the Condega Valley is often described as a blend of the other two regions.
