Made Man Model 870 Toro

Made Man’s mob-inspired name sets the tone, but the tobacco comes from a very real partnership with Aganorsa in Nicaragua. The Model 870 is a classic 6 × 50 Toro, wearing a leathery Corojo wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan long-fillers. This medium-bodied blend takes a balanced approach, with cedar, floral notes, natural sweetness, and a lightly salty, savory quality sharing the spotlight. The appeal is in that interplay: woody flavors provide a familiar foundation, while the brighter aromatics and savory touches give the cigar a personality of its own. It’s a profile that rewards attention without relying entirely on heavy spice. For an unexpected pairing, try a cold root beer. We’d choose one with pronounced vanilla and gentle baking-spice notes, letting its sweetness contrast with the cigar’s savory side. A moderately sweet version should give the floral and cedar notes room to remain noticeable. Think sweet and savory rather than an overpowering dessert pairing.

The Nicaraguan cigar industry originated when Cuban cigar makers escaped the revolution and re-established their livelihood in Nicaragua with Cuban-seed tobacco. Blessed with dark, rich soil, their new home was ideal for tobacco cultivation and Nicaragua quickly became known for cigars that rivaled Cuban quality. Unfortunately, revolution and war came to Nicaragua in the 1980s and devastated the industry, but it’s rebounded dramatically and is once again producing tobacco considered by many to be the finest in the world.

The Esteli Valley is in many ways the heart of Nicaraguan production and is known for its very powerful and spicy tobacco. The Jalapa Valley produces arguably the finest tobacco in the country: somewhat sweeter and less intense than Esteli, but extremely complex. The tobacco of the Condega Valley is often described as a blend of the other two regions.
