Lost & Found cigars was founded by Tony Bellatto, Robert Caldwell and Jaclyn Sears in 2013 after Caldwell came back from a trip to the Dominican Republic. Upon his return, he shared some special cigars from another manufacturer and the idea was born. Caldwell has always requested cigars from other manufacturers that are interesting, well-aged, and often forgotten limited editions that are not in production anymore. According to the Lost & Found website: “Bellatto also fell in love with these forgotten gems and asked Caldwell if he could get more to share, and Sears had a brilliant idea about how to market and package them. The concept of Lost & Found is simple: to buy old, special, very well aged cigars from other manufacturers that have been long lost and forgotten, and offer them to consumers at a fair price much less than the original MSRP.”

Produced in 2016 in Honduras, the Instant Classic Maduro is a limited batch that is truly a gem, and the Maduro Box-Press Toro is being released just to members of the Rare Cigar Club! This stick comes dressed in a Mexican San Andrés wrapper that holds a Costa Rican binder and is full of Nicaraguan long-fillers. When ready to enjoy, light it up and enjoy classic maduro notes of earth, spice, chocolate, and lingering sweetness. Medium to full in body, enjoy this smoke with an Imperial Stout, such as Big Bad Baptist from Epic Brewing.

Honduras has been a tobacco growing and cigar manufacturing area for hundreds of years, but it was the Communist revolution in Cuba that really put Honduras on the map. In the 1960s, many Cuban cigar makers fled their homeland and arrived in Honduras to re-establish their way of life. The immigrants took advantage of the climate, soil, and geography, which were well-suited to tobacco growing, and began producing high quality cigars. The center of the Honduran cigar industry is the city of Danli and the nearby Jamastran Valley. The majority of the world’s pure Corojo tobacco is grown here, now that Cuba has stopped production of this iconic, spicy, and rich variety in favor of Corojo hybrids. Other important areas of Honduran cigar production include the Talanga Valley, Copan, and Trojes.
