We’re not going to lie, Gurkha makes a lot, okay, A LOT of cigars. Gurkha creator and cigar master, Kaizad Hansotia, is infamous for buying some of the most expensive tobaccos on the market, the tobaccos that all other cigar makers quickly pass up because there won’t be nearly enough to produce an ‘evergreen’ cigar that will be around for years to come. With that said, Kaizad Hansotia is more interested in bringing you a unique cigar experience of the highest caliber, not caring if it will be around forever. A prime example is Gurkha’s infamous His Majesty's Reserve, which was one of the most expensive cigars out there at $750 for a single cigar!

Well here’s some good news for you! The Gurkha Blue Steel in your shipment is one of those cigars that wasn’t around forever. It was made just once a few years ago, and there were only 50,000 sticks produced, then it was gone, never to be seen again. But, after talking to our friends at Gurkha, we were able to work with them to bring just enough back for you, our members! You will not be able to find this cigar anywhere else! Hailing from Nicaragua, this tasty morsel comes draped in a handsome Costa Rican Maduro wrapper which secures a Nicaraguan binder and a bevy of exquisite and extensively aged tobacco long fillers from Colombia, Honduras, and Nicaragua. This powerful cigar is full-bodied with rich yet mellow notes of tobacco, toast, wood, earth and the classic sweet and long maduro finish. Get them while they’re here, and try pairing it with your favorite IPA, like one from our Hop-Heads Beer of the Month Club!

The Nicaraguan cigar industry originated when Cuban cigar makers escaped the revolution and re-established their livelihood in Nicaragua with Cuban-seed tobacco. Blessed with dark, rich soil, their new home was ideal for tobacco cultivation and Nicaragua quickly became known for cigars that rivaled Cuban quality. Unfortunately, revolution and war came to Nicaragua in the 1980s and devastated the industry, but it’s rebounded dramatically and is once again producing tobacco considered by many to be the finest in the world.

The Esteli Valley is in many ways the heart of Nicaraguan production and is known for its very powerful and spicy tobacco. The Jalapa Valley produces arguably the finest tobacco in the country: somewhat sweeter and less intense than Esteli, but extremely complex. The tobacco of the Condega Valley is often described as a blend of the other two regions.
