Years ago, Felipe Gregorio crafted, at the behest of "The Chairman" himself, a line of Sinatra cigars. My Way became the decisive treasure of the Sinatra cigar series which helped put Felipe Gregorio on the map. Just to give you an idea of the demand for the cigar, they cost over $300 a box—and that's over a decade ago. Unfortunately, legal issues arose with the Sinatra estate after he died (in 1998) and the brand was pulled from the market. Waiting for these issues to clear, these prized gems sat in Felipe's aging rooms for years. Today, Felipe has resurrected this blend in a slightly new incarnation. The limited edition Frank's Way cigar is a gorgeous belicoso with a golden Connecticut Shade wrapper. The stick is beautifully constructed and offers quality Dominican long-leaf tobaccos and an equally high quality Dominican binder. Frank's Way is mild to medium-bodied in flavor with a nice draw, a rich aroma and a flawless slow, even burn. You're going to enjoy its creamy, slightly peppery taste and its resplendent aroma. Pair it with Sinatra's favorite beverage, Jack Daniel's whiskey, and take it "Nice n' Easy"™!
Though tobacco is indigenous to Hispaniola, the tobacco industry in the Dominican Republic existed in the shadow of Cuba’s dominance through the 1960s. When the exodus of Cuban cigar makers began in the wake of the revolution, many decided the Dominican Republic would be ideal for the resumption of their livelihoods. Unrest in Nicaragua in the 1980s fueled the Dominican cigar industry further. The country now makes more than half of the premium cigars imported into the U.S. The Cibao Valley and the nearby city of Santiago are the center of cigar production in the Dominican Republic. Three main varieties are grown here: the mild and native Olor Dominicano; the intense Piloto Cubano, brought from the Vuelta Abajo of Cuba; and San Vicente, a milder and more acidic Piloto hybrid. Dominican puros were once unheard of as it was widely thought impossible to grow quality wrapper leaf on the island, but new growing techniques are now allowing some exceptional puros to be produced.
