The limited-edition CAO Arcana Stokk is the fourth release in CAO’s adventurous Arcana series and was developed with Danish pipe-tobacco specialist Peter Stokkebye. Its clever construction creates two experiences in one cigar: the first half highlights Dominican andullo, while the second introduces fire-cured Cyprian Latakia, a tobacco more commonly associated with premium pipe blends. A dark U.S. Broadleaf wrapper surrounds a Nicaraguan binder and fillers of Dominican andullo, Cyprian Latakia, and Honduran tobacco. The cigar begins earthy and slightly sweet, offering cocoa, cedar, dark fruit, and warm spice. Around the midpoint, the Latakia becomes more prominent, adding campfire smoke, toasted wood, leather, and a savory finish. Cherry cola makes a playful but surprisingly fitting pairing. Its dark fruit, caramel, vanilla, and lively carbonation complement the Broadleaf sweetness while balancing the cigar’s smoky second half. It is a memorable choice for adventurous smokers who enjoy watching a blend dramatically change character.

The Nicaraguan cigar industry originated when Cuban cigar makers escaped the revolution and re-established their livelihood in Nicaragua with Cuban-seed tobacco. Blessed with dark, rich soil, their new home was ideal for tobacco cultivation and Nicaragua quickly became known for cigars that rivaled Cuban quality. Unfortunately, revolution and war came to Nicaragua in the 1980s and devastated the industry, but it’s rebounded dramatically and is once again producing tobacco considered by many to be the finest in the world.

The Esteli Valley is in many ways the heart of Nicaraguan production and is known for its very powerful and spicy tobacco. The Jalapa Valley produces arguably the finest tobacco in the country: somewhat sweeter and less intense than Esteli, but extremely complex. The tobacco of the Condega Valley is often described as a blend of the other two regions.
