First things first, the Alec Bradley Magic Toast is not referring to a type of bread but the kind of toast you make before a celebration. According to Alec Bradley founder Alan Rubin: “Alec Bradley Magic Toast got its name on a night forever etched in my memory. That’s the night, I saw for myself, by flashlight, a crop that was beyond belief. Tobaccos I knew we would find a special project for. Under the stars, we cracked open a bottle of very special whisky and proposed a toast to our future. Magic Toast was born that evening. Along with a ritual. Toast the end of this cigar. Celebrate its beginning. And enjoy the magic!”

Strange name aside, this magical smoke made its debut at the 2018 IPCPR trade show and it’s another fantastic addition to Rubin’s already stellar portfolio that has dozens of 90+ ratings from Cigar Aficionado, Cigar Insider, and Cigar Journal, just to name a few. Hailing from Honduras, the Magic Toast boasts fillers and binders from Nicaragua and Honduras that are secured with an oily and chocolatey Honduran wrapper. Once you toast the foot, you will find medium to full notes of chocolate with hints of cedar and natural tobacco sweetness. Pair this magical smoke with a Deschutes Obsidian Stout or your favorite stout.

Honduras has been a tobacco growing and cigar manufacturing area for hundreds of years, but it was the Communist revolution in Cuba that really put Honduras on the map. In the 1960s, many Cuban cigar makers fled their homeland and arrived in Honduras to re-establish their way of life. The immigrants took advantage of the climate, soil, and geography, which were well-suited to tobacco growing, and began producing high quality cigars. The center of the Honduran cigar industry is the city of Danli and the nearby Jamastran Valley. The majority of the world’s pure Corojo tobacco is grown here, now that Cuba has stopped production of this iconic, spicy, and rich variety in favor of Corojo hybrids. Other important areas of Honduran cigar production include the Talanga Valley, Copan, and Trojes.
