Oliveros XL Sun Grown

The Oliveros brand runs deep - four generations in the making. Originally deriving from Spain, the family immigrated to Cuba, and in the 1980’s eventually made their way to the United States of America where they have now stayed for over thirty years. The XL Sun Grown is the creation of Nestor Plasencia, who is one of the most prominent tobacco growers and cigar makers in the industry. He is known for producing 90+ rated cigars like Rocky Patel Edge, Alec Bradley Maxx, 5 Vegas Classic, and Rocky Patel Decade, just to name a few. The XL Sun Grown utilizes a rich blend of Nicaraguan long-fillers with a Honduran Corojo binder, and finishes off with an oily golden-brown, sungrown wrapper made from Cuban seeds. The combination in this medium to full-bodied cigar will bring about such notes as coffee, earth, pepper, various spices, leather, and also some hints of raw peanuts. The XL Sun Grown ends with a sweet and spicy finish. You can expect a nice even smoke from this excellently constructed cigar. The flavor notes in this smoke pair perfectly with a cold pilsner or other pale lager.

The Nicaraguan cigar industry originated when Cuban cigar makers escaped the revolution and re-established their livelihood in Nicaragua with Cuban-seed tobacco. Blessed with dark, rich soil, their new home was ideal for tobacco cultivation and Nicaragua quickly became known for cigars that rivaled Cuban quality. Unfortunately, revolution and war came to Nicaragua in the 1980s and devastated the industry, but it’s rebounded dramatically and is once again producing tobacco considered by many to be the finest in the world. The Esteli Valley is in many ways the heart of Nicaraguan production and is known for its very powerful and spicy tobacco. The Jalapa Valley produces arguably the finest tobacco in the country: somewhat sweeter and less intense than Esteli, but extremely complex. The tobacco of the Condega Valley is often described as a blend of the other two regions.
