Padilla Miami Robusto
On top of numerous 90 plus ratings, this cigar has been named one of Cigar Aficionado’s Top 50 cigars in the World. Produced in exceedingly limited quantities, when the Padilla Miami debuted, it turned the industry upside down. The blend is extraordinary. Each leaf of tobacco, grown from 1st generation Cuban seeds, hails from the dark, fertile soils of Nicaragua. The wrapper is a dark, reddish-hued Corojo; the filler, a robust mixture of Criollo and Corojo tobaccos. Note the three caps applied to the head of this cigar in true hand-crafted Cuban fashion. Expect toasty hints of wood, cocoa and coffee finished by a peppery aftertaste. The following comments accompanied one 94 rating: "First puffs of this gorgeous, well-made robusto come on strong and earthy, leading to cocoa and nutty flavors as the cigar progresses. Mellow, Scotch-like impressions linger on the palate. Complex and flavorful." Masterfully balanced, the Padilla Miami is truly one of the finest cigars made today and is a testament to the hand-rolled cigar as a work of art. This one warrants your best V.S.O.P (as in “very superior old pale”) brandy or cognac. Courvoisier or Hennessey come to mind. Nicaraguan Cigars
The Esteli Valley is in many ways the heart of Nicaraguan production and is known for its very powerful and spicy tobacco. The Jalapa Valley produces arguably the finest tobacco in the country: somewhat sweeter and less intense than Esteli, but extremely complex. The tobacco of the Condega Valley is often described as a blend of the other two regions. Other June 2010 Featured Cigars |
