Nub’s Double Maduro marks the second installment in a series of limited edition releases from Studio Tobac, which is one of the many side projects that Oliva Cigars has. The Nub cigar is considered to be one of the most innovative cigar concepts with its line of short, corpulent, and well-filled cigars. Knowing that the sweet spot in a typical cigar is about a third of the way through, the Oliva team was determined to capture the sweet spot in a compact smoke that would maintain perfection in flavor from start to finish. Even though this small cigar may give the impression of a quick burn, this hand rolled box-pressed smoke is densely packed so it will have a comparable burn to your conventional longer cigar. The Nub Boxed-Pressed Double Maduro is filled with Nicaraguan long leaf, bound with Habano Maduro, and wrapped up in a Brazilian Maduro wrapper, giving you one remarkable assortment of flavor. Medium to full in body, expect a richer, fuller, but smoother bouquet. A rich and toasty foundation of flavor starts with soft pepper that gives way to a mix of coffee, espresso, chocolate, mocha and tobacco. Due to its bold flavors we recommend a porter or stout to accompany your smoke.

The Nicaraguan cigar industry originated when Cuban cigar makers escaped the revolution and re-established their livelihood in Nicaragua with Cuban-seed tobacco. Blessed with dark, rich soil, their new home was ideal for tobacco cultivation and Nicaragua quickly became known for cigars that rivaled Cuban quality. Unfortunately, revolution and war came to Nicaragua in the 1980s and devastated the industry, but it’s rebounded dramatically and is once again producing tobacco considered by many to be the finest in the world.

The Esteli Valley is in many ways the heart of Nicaraguan production and is known for its very powerful and spicy tobacco. The Jalapa Valley produces arguably the finest tobacco in the country: somewhat sweeter and less intense than Esteli, but extremely complex. The tobacco of the Condega Valley is often described as a blend of the other two regions.
