Garo Bouldoukian, founder of Garo Habano, is still a practicing chiropractor. He entered the cigar market in 1996, not as a business, but to satisfy his own requirement for fine cigars, and to supply gifts to friends and colleagues. Unaware the cigar Renaissance had begun, he contacted a small Cuban expatriate's factory in the Dominican Republic that still makes several high-quality and well-known premium cigar brands. They supported him in his desire to develop his own favorite blends. This one is made at that factory, now one of Central America’s largest and most respected and the home of dozens of 90+ rated brands you know and love. This medium-bodied torpedo features a silky-smooth Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder and an intricate blend of vintage long-fillers from Nicaragua's top growing regions. Once finished, the Vintage goes down for a very long cedar nap that ensures balance and smoothness. Expect rich, thick smoke, notes of coffee, leather, black pepper, and a heavy cedar influence. Pair it with a nice cuppa joe.

The Nicaraguan cigar industry originated when Cuban cigar makers escaped the revolution and re-established their livelihood in Nicaragua with Cuban-seed tobacco. Blessed with dark, rich soil, their new home was ideal for tobacco cultivation and Nicaragua quickly became known for cigars that rivaled Cuban quality. Unfortunately, revolution and war came to Nicaragua in the 1980s and devastated the industry, but it’s rebounded dramatically and is once again producing tobacco considered by many to be the finest in the world.

The Esteli Valley is in many ways the heart of Nicaraguan production and is known for its very powerful and spicy tobacco. The Jalapa Valley produces arguably the finest tobacco in the country: somewhat sweeter and less intense than Esteli, but extremely complex. The tobacco of the Condega Valley is often described as a blend of the other two regions.
